What I want for Christmas (and you should, too)!

Hi, it’s me Lucy, and I’m here to remind you in simple fashion that you do NOT have to overthink the perfect Christmas gifts for anyone on your list ✨

Trust me – I know it’s tempting to think something’s not “good enough”...or to kick yourself for not grabbing that item you saw back in July that would be perfect for your Mother-in-law.

But can’t we just take a moment to remember that the well-known saying “It’s the thought that counts” didn’t become so well-known for no reason? ❤️

Now, I’m not saying you should spend your precious time and resources buying something totally random and pointless and using that saying as a crutch 😂. What I AM saying is that buying the perfect gift for anyone on your list doesn’t have to be such a stressor. At the end of the day, there are several specific categories of items that are not only on my personal Christmas list, but also make the perfect gift for those you love most!

So without further ado, here are the top items I’m asking for for Christmas.

  • Original Art has always been and will always be at the very top of my list for any gifting occasion! I love discovering local artists and learning more about them and their work. Below, I’ll share a few of my favorite Alabama-based artists, and I encourage you to dig into your art community and get to know some local artists there as well!

As a friend to many local artists, I know firsthand what a gift it is to THEM for you to support their work.

And before you think there’s no way you can afford a huge piece of art for everyone on your list, remember that most local artists offer a whole array of products – from paper pieces, cards, prints, and other small items to yes, the large one of a kind pieces that are perfect for filling up that blank space in a home. I could go on and on but I have art from each of these and love my pieces!

  • Art Books are a wonderful alternative to purchasing larger artwork if that’s not quite in the budget. I love gathering books of all kinds, and my collection of art/home books can never be too much! These make great additions to coffee tables, built-in bookshelves, and more. A few of my current favorites are Women of Abstract Expressionism, (after reading Ninth Street Women (twice) and taking a course from Jeanne Oliver and Friends), Diebenkorn, or The Joy of Art. Grab any of these from THIS LIST!

  • Charm bracelets and necklaces are all the rage right now (i.e. very on trend), and these cute charms from Lot 28 Designs totally caught my eye while my daughter Emma and I were in NYC last month. In fact, we even got to meet the maker in the shop where they actually make the jewelry on-site! This is a huge plus for me – getting to know the person and the integrity behind the product means so much.

I’ve already gifted myself an L charm in “latte”, and Emma an E charm in the same color.

These charms are super unique and timeless, and I love that the people I gift them to will be able to wear them in various ways over the upcoming years.

  • Speaking of timelessness, anything from Alabama Chanin is the luxurious gift that will last (literally) forever! I’ve had these tea towels for YEARS, and despite me using the absolute heck out of them, they’re still good as new.

I love the variety of options here – from something small like the tea towels, to a beautiful poncho kit or this kit to make your own top, to a 3-day workshop where you can custom design and create your own clothing! My cart is full in this shop….I have to edit!!!

  • My butler’s pantry (from the 1800’s) is practically begging for these Vintage Whiskey glasses. They’re gorgeous, and the perfect find for men OR women! You simply can’t go wrong with gifting glassware. Pair these with a bottle of their favorite whiskey, or a recipe for a seasonal cocktail! Fun, practical, and won’t break the bank. Yes, please!

PS - this site is a great place to shop for anyone who loves vintage!

  • Last but certainly not least, I want to remind you of the best gift you could EVER give: quality time. I know I’m biased, but a splendid option for gifting future memories AND something to look forward to is my upcoming Shopping & Creative Retreat in Round Top, Texas (March 2025). In fact, I was just chatting with two friends who are gifting each other the retreat so they can not only enjoy experiencing Round Top, but also spend some much-needed time together! Spots are still available, but they’re limited – so learn more and secure your spot HERE

If you have any questions about the retreat, email me at Lucy@lucysinspired.com and I’ll get back to you asap!

I hope this list inspires you to find a gift for everyone on your list – even yourself! And even more, I hope it encourages you to lean into quality time and memories more than ever before ✨
