Unleashing Creativity in Two Unique Workshops: Vision Board Journals & Hat Brims
Hearts of Rest was this weekend and you know how much I love this weekend at Pursell Farms! It’s the perfect girl’s getaway to a beautiful spot full of creativity!
But first, I got to lead a Vision Journal Workshop at Elizabeth Hubbard’s studio on Thursday night. We had so much fun talking about what we wanted 2024 to look like and reminding ourselves that we don’t have to have it figured out immediately! I gave the ladies worksheets to dive into over the next few weeks and then we pulled out magazines of all kinds to find words and pictures of what we envision our lives at the end of 2024. Cutting out pretty pictures and words that are meaningful is actually very therapeutic and fun! You should try it! Take a look at some of the pages that were created and get inspired to do your own.
Elizabeth is doing a series called Makers & Creators at her studio and has one or two monthly workshops. Makers & Creators Workshops are workshop-based events where women come together in a relaxed environment to enjoy fellowship and a love for art and creating. Grab your mom, sister, or best friend for a girl’s night. These are 2-hour workshops where you create something unique that is taught by different artists from the Southeast! There’s a painting workshop next week! Sign up HERE>
Friday we made our way south to Pursell Farms for Hearts of Rest. I’ve volunteered for three years now teaching a creative workshop. It’s such an inspiring event full of women who love Jesus and want to get away for the weekend. The creative workshops are the cherry on top! It’s amazing how when you pull into the farm you immediately feel a sense of RELEASE. > My word of the year! Driving down the winding road with pastures and fields on either side makes it picture-perfect in every way. On Friday night there is a short welcome reception with delicious snacks, a swag bag full of goodies, and worship music. Ashlee, my bestie, and I stayed at Aunt Chris’ house in the enchanting upstairs bedroom adorned with two queen beds and an ensuite that was a haven for us to relax.
The food at Hearts of Rest is probably my favorite part and breakfast is divine! We enjoyed breakfast before we gathered to hear a great message from Carol Bevil that reminded us of how important our place is here on Earth. Ahh. We are here to uphold others with our gifts to point them to the kingdom. It was a great message!
I love watching people pick a hat and then get to work pulling the sprinkles for the brim! So many creative hats came out of this class and I couldn’t be more proud! Ashlee was the best helper and I couldn’t have done it without her.
Leading workshops has been a great exercise for me throughout the last year. I have loved teaching other women how to use their creativity and let go of perfection. It’s amazing how when we get our hands get dirty we let go of inhibitions and play! Seeing that freedom and how making something with our hands is powerful in so many ways. I will be putting out my workshop calendar in the next few weeks. If you want to be on the first to know list…sign up here! You’ll get the dates and class details before anyone else! These will be the only workshops I have before we move this summer!
